A gateway emerged
Amidst this soundless void
Erected by no human hand
Achromatic stones uphold the archway
Adorned with strange, impious glyphs
Enshrouded by a bank of mist
A cosmic bond between the worlds
A passage to the other side
The luminescent portal
Aside from time and space
The moment before I enter
The fog condenses, devours the light
Accompanied by absolute uncertainty
As I leave everything behind
My steps lead me forwards
Towards to the nebulous unknown
Into foreign, dismal dimensions
As I transcend the gateway...

Haunting desperately
Through these empty hallways
A last frightened breath before they vanish
Among them the hollow promise of a soul
Yearn for the eternal slumber
A deep glimpse at the yawning chasm
The shadowless eternity
The call of a foreign aeon
The all-leaden indifference
The will to abandon the fire
The will to split the mind
The desire to embrace the void

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity. Favorite Track(s): Die Feuertaufe, Grabenlieder
