The tides were not in our favour
Water rose as the storm swept across the seas
And washed ashore portentous oddities
Sparking the native, bewildering beliefs
Sullen hermits sense a tangible peril
Lurking within the uninhabited land
As if those shunned hills would obscure
Unfathomable horrors unknown to man
Although estranged by the unsettling rumours
Curiosity lies in the heart of man
As if fear of the unknown pushed us forward
To conquer the dark mountain we planned
Albeit in clear daylight no creatures were found
As if our efforts were in vain
When the night sky devoured the last kiss of twilight
Alongside the creeping fog's tail they came
Inside Vermont's shunned hills, where trees trickle from unknown sources
There's a buzzing voice in the woods
Strange footprints to be found when the dogs barked at night
A cosmic colony insinuating ancient gods
Inside those shunned hills, those dense, unvisited woods
Resides a horror of non-terrestrial birth
Conquering the interstellar void
The Outer ones will come to Earth
Betwixt the spacious precipices and pinnacles
Ashen with terror grew our faces
Discovering the presence of alien life
And witnessing those star-born monster races
The winged ones came from the sky
On ether-resisting wings
Old Akeley has fallen for their lies
And was taken away by these things
In fear we tremble, never to return
To those hills that we fled in terror and screams
Harbouring an ancient titan race
Whose glories live only in rare, deep dreams
